Well, we had an easy ride out of St. Augustine today. Seas were 1-2 feet and we decided to do an ocean run straight to Charleston. It was 8 hours at 23 knots and for most of it, all we saw were a few container ships. Carl did catch site of large sea turtles three times, but they dove under the surface too quickly to get a pic. Some dolphins briefly passed in front of us, but once again didn’t hang around for a photo op! We did lose cell phones and internet once we were past 12 miles off shore (were were at 25 miles off shore for most of the time) which was disconcerting as we thought our Starlink (the service we use to have on boat internet service) had broader coverage to keep our internet access active. So now one other safety item to consider, a satellite phone. I have been to Charleston before, but not Carl. I insisted he had to see the city even if it was brief, so we did a very quick walk around the streets and then had dinner at Coast Bar and Grill. Despite trying to get into several other preferred restaurants and their having 2+ hour waits, we settled on Coast. It was surprisingly good and we both enjoyed salmon and scallops prepared ettoufee style (look it up!) over jalepeno cornbread. A fun pedi cab ride to the restaurant allowed for Carl to get to see more of the city. We will definitely be back for a longer stay!
So after dinner we returned to the boat to get organized and well rested for tomorrow. We have another long day of cruising planned and potentially bumpy seas for a portion of it. We will venture onto the intracoastal mid way to our destination which is TBD, but somewhere in North Carolina. I need to prep some food to keep in the flybridge so we are not going up and down so much. We will stock the fridge up there.

One of several container ship sightings. I wonder if these beat the tariffs!

The homes and architecture in Charleston are incredibly beautiful! Enjoyed our scenic pedi cab ride.

No time for a horse carriage tour, but these animals were magnificent!

Everywhere feels so festive!

Literally, that’s it!

Back to the Marina, we have an early start on Saturday.

Getting organized for a long day on the ocean tomorrow. Prepped lunch and some snacks and then stocked the mini fridge in the fly bridge.
