Just About Ready to Go!

Well, I continued provisioning today and we are just about ready to take off! Just one more trip to purchase fresh fruits and veggies and we will be done. There is no mistaking our Italian heritage (Carl more than myself…I am a bit of a mongrel with lots of different nationalities in my blood) when you look at what we are brining on board. Certainly we have many items that will carry us into the summer. Provisioning the boat is like playing a game of Tetris! I literally re- configure most of the shelves in the galley and in other areas several times before all seems to fit and make sense for how we use items. I am getting better at knowing what we do and don’t really need. I do like to have more than we need so when we meet people along the way we can invite them on board to share a drink and something to nibble on. Costco just opened in Stuart and we had to check it out.

So there is a chance we may actually leave some time tomorrow as the weather conditions are changing a bit and we may need to consider more travel than we would like on the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway)…only say that because it is much slower and we would like to make good time on the first couple of days. Initially the forecast was calling for 2-3 foot seas, but now north of Fort Pierce there may be 4 foot seas. GYPSEA can easily handle that but we are not sure we want to, so will consider an inside run (i.e. on the ICW) for the start of our cruise back to Boston…We will keep you posted!

Some pics of the prep. Invested in some EarTec radio headsets to assure we can hear each other when docking or grabbing a mooring ball. We have the full compliment of Waterway Guides for our journey. Carl in the engine room, and as an aside…I take Type I and III Collagen Peptides every day…first time in 4 years bone density improved and have been taking for 1 year combined with resistive and weight bearing exercise (was not seeing improvement after 5 years on Alendronate)…so much for big Pharma winning this battle…

No denying some Italian heritage here!…this will last well beyond our trip!..”shopped” our condo here in Stuart as well as trying out the new Costco. Fresh fruit and veggies coming tomorrow!

I am always amazed at how much I can get in the pantry! A bonus on this boat is that there is cold storage under one of the benches in the mezzanine! Here again likely more than we will need for this trip but who doesn’t leave Costco without buying at least triple what you need, and had to clean out condo for the season, so….Italian Feast on GYPSEA!…to my very generous EVOO supplier…wish I had some Oro Bailen on board! Will make the switch when we get home!
